Summary:

This 32-hour course is intended to provide a person with the knowledge, skill and understanding of Advanced Fire Fighting and meet the Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h), and 11.303(a).

 Prerequisites:  Students enrolling in this course should have completed an approved basic firefighting course and are expected to be in general good health. Additionally, students are expected to be able to speak and understand English.
Course Details:

This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Convention Chapter VI, SectionA-VI/3, as amended 2010. On meeting the minimum standard of competence inadvanced fire fighting, a trainee will be competent to take command, organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The seafarer will have acquired the knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she willalso be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.


Examination: 20 question multiple choice written examination and practical assessments.
