Prerequisites:
Students enrolling in this course have completed an approved basic firefighting course and are expected to be in general good health. Additionally, students are expected to be able to speak and understand English. Students must meet the citizenship requirements listed in 46 CFR 10.221.
Course Details:
This syllabus covers the requirements of the NVIC 09-14 CH-1 to include 1.1A-4.1C. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced fire fighting, a trainee will be competent to take command, organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The mariner will have acquired the knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.
Examination:
25 question multiple choice written examination and practical assessments.
