Advanced Fire Fighting Revalidation

This course will satisfy STCW renewal requirements for a mariner who is actively serving on seagoing ships and has completed at least 360 days of seagoing service within the past five years.

Course Summary:

Any applicant who has successfully completed our Advanced Fire Fighting Revalidation (CMTIVA-777) course will satisfy:

⦁ The Advanced Fire Fighting continued standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.303(b) for mariners who have previously held an Advanced Fire Fighting endorsement under STCW Code Section A-VI/3, PROVIDED that the mariner has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years; STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 09-14(Ch-1) Tasks 1.3.A, 1.5.A, 2.1.A, 2.1.B, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 4.1.A, 4.1.B and 4.1.C.

Applicants who have successfully completed our course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification.

Prerequisites:

Students enrolling in this course have completed an approved basic and advanced firefighting course, are expected to be in general good health and has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years. Additionally, students are expected to be able to speak and understand English. Students must meet the citizenship requirements listed in 46 CFR 10.221.

Course Details:

This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/3, as amended 2010. On demonstrating the practical assessments in advanced fire fighting as outlined in NVIC 09-14 CH-1, the trainee will be competent to take command, organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The mariner will have revalidated the knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.

Examinations:

Successfully complete practical assessments.
